There has been a light around in the industry that consistently pushes that they are a flashlight that can start a fire. Early in the LED light days maybe it was the only one that could do this but now there are more. In this article we will try to cover all of the flashlight that have the ability to burn or melt plastic or even cook an egg. It boils down to how much power is focused onto the object.
The flashlight that started this “flashlight that starts fires” trend was the FlashTorch by Wicked Lasers. This flashlight has been making this claim for 15 years and with articles as early as 2008 claiming the 4100 lumens and the possibility to be in the guinness world records book there is something to it. The biggest thing about this light is that it does not use an LED so pretty quickly you might burn out your bulb.
The FlashTorch also has a smaller brother now the FlashTorch mini that puts out a reported 2300 lumens.
Here are our other picks of LED based flashlights starting fires. Most of these are pretty high lumen lights and we assume that most lights over a certain output will be able to burn stuff. We do have a buyers guide that covers the hightest lumen lights currently out.
